Do you ever re-invent your home? When I was a little girl I would change my bedroom around for as much of a different feel as doing so would allow. I shared my room with my sister, who is 4 years older than me, but she couldn't appreciate the value in what I was offering. Maybe that's because I did it on my own whim, without checking in with her, and she'd arrive home from a date, late at night only to find her bed was not where she expected. We joke about it still.
I do love changing things around tho - change and I make good company, we get along well. Recently, we've been making changes, small changes in our home, to mix things up, refresh and more effectively use the rooms we have and although my husband and daughters are not the best of friends with change, they're slowly coming round in seeing what the change will offer them.
My husband, Mr. C., has been a champion of my vison and is building a couple (OMG! gorgeous) tables, one for my home office, and one for our loft which is being transformed into our teen homework/TV/Wii space. I'm so excited to share the before after pics . . .whenever the rooms are (soon I hope) completed.
A dear friend is moving this weekend into a little beach cottage and it's been so enjoyable to watch her discover her new taste and style, pulling it together piece by piece.
Whether decorating on a budget, like so many of us find it necessary to do, or we have carte blanche in expressing our style, doing so from the heart is what matters most . . .
because, home is our sheltered anchorage, our port, and our safe place we come to to restore & refresh our soul and to connect with those we love.
While on the path of discovery to her style, I shared some of my favorite sites with my friend and think you may enjoy them too:
Ideal Home (L.O.V.E!)
Aiden Grey (industrial chic goodness)
Jeanne d'arc Living (only a breathless sigh can convey)
oh, and of course there's this place where you can find the above pieces and so much more to warm your heart and home®.
Big or small, new or old & charming, decorated to the nines or simply you give your home a hug today.
I love changing things around in our home with every season. thanks for a wonderful thought. love your work, Terri.
