Language of the heart

Good Morning Friends,

As I await a telephone call (east coast time) on my very early west coast time, I find myself wandering thru some favorite blogs. As a child, I enjoyed reading the dictionary (kinda geekish, I know) but I have always LOVED words, their meaning, their origin, their sound, their ability to express our emotion.  My nearly 12 year old Jessica seems to have acquired this trait from her momma as she possesses a delighfully high verbal IQ, and loves to challenge her classmates' thinking with language.

Sometimes tho, words are simply not needed as we find ourselves expressing our feelings, thoughts and emotions in other creative ways - conveying poignant messages.

This room, this lovely photograph by Mari Eriksson conveys such peace and serenety to me.  I dream of a studio just like this filled with natural sunlight, the bird's song greeting me each morning. What does it convey to you?

I will let my light shine

"I will let my light shine in 2009!"

It’s a new year filled with new possibilities awaiting our open hearts to graciously receive all the joy and gifts of life that are our divine right. 

The new year can sometimes be bittersweet for one year comes to a close with some things perhaps left undone, and/or desires not yet met . . . but (there's always a but!) being the half-full milk glass kinda girl that I am, I look to the new year as a brand new canvas waiting to be colored in with whatever I desire.  And how I adore a blank canvas.

Curiously, my family and I went to see the film, Bedtime Stories last night.  I laughed, heartily, as the children filled in the blanks to the bed time stories their goofy uncle told to them - and they came true!  At the end of the movie I philosophically commented that it was a wonderful commentary on how we write the stories of our lives.   Coupled with this, I of course believe we come into this world with God's divine purpose tucked away in our spirit, but we are accountable to seek that purpose and fulfill it - and yes, we make mistakes along the way - after all we are human.

Like many of you, I too have my dreams, desires, and goals for the new year, both personally and professionally. I have begun to re-organize my life making God first, me second, followed by my family and friends, then work.  I am incorporating a time of silence into each morning, seeking to listen to God, to hear Him, and to respond to Him.  I am meditating, and exercising daily (again!) and being a bit more discretionary with what I choose to eat and why. These things help me be a better mama to my little ladybugs, and clear my mind for my creative work and clearly see the path I am to travel upon.

I asked my girls to think of one thing they want to learn, explore, or do this year - something that will enlarge their lives just a bit.  Katelyn promptly announced "chemistry."  So, I shall look up some kid friendly sites that offer recipies for learning chemistry, and look for a chemistry set for her (for us) to play with.  My older daughter, Jessica, ever contemplative, is still . . . contemplating.

I've begun a new journal (all this actually began prior to the 1st) and will fill its pages with all that I am grateful for, hope for, and desire.  Then around this time next year, I can look back and remind myself that 2009 was indeed my year to shine!

Finally, we said goodbye to last year getting in gear to launch our new web site.  My uber fantastic web guys are doing a super job - and we hope to launch in just a couple weeks with some new and exciting products to warm your heart & home.
