In absence of clearly defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily acts of trivia. Author Unknown
Isn't this the truth! There is so much written about the fact that if we are not following our own path, fulfilling our own goals, living our own defined purpose - we are indeed doing all of the above on behalf of someone else, for their benefit! Yikes!
My bestest friend in the whole wide world (who loves me in spite of who I am - hehe) and I have been sharing recent talks about the direction of our respective business ventures, the absolute necessity of goal setting, having a vision, personally and professionally, and not simply aspiring, but reaching, living, eating and breathing realized dreams. It's possible - many before us have done so and are currently doing so. Easy? No, not at all. Here's just a peek at what I have set before me today - I have found that if I do not write my goals down, place them before me, and work to fulfill them, one by one, I end up spending my day, my very precious time, frivilously, on trivial this & that. Oh, I will accomplish things in that manner, but are the things I accomplish those that move me in the direction of my vision for my business?
As creatives it is quite challenging to pull focus. I wrote about this topic here. As I read the opening sentence of that post, I am reminded that I need to seek God (my Cinematographer who has the BIG PICTURE in mind - He has the "persistence of vision" for my purpose) first not last as I did when I typed up my goals for the day today. Hmm, there's something to think about.
It's a challenge working and being a mother, and wife, and oh, an individual. For those of you who work in or outside of your home, and family life, how do you integrate it all?
I shared a chat with Celeste Rockwood-Jones this weekend (with a beautiful baby fresh from Heaven added to her life), and I simply said, "guilt is the norm;" guilt at not being able to give my girls more undivided attention. On the flip side, I do get to work from home, and while I occassionally imagine having a retail/artsy place for women to gather and me to set up another studio, I relish having all I need here, in the comfort of my home (okay, truth be told - I'd LOVE another 1000 square feet of studio space, but still at home!)
Of the many things I hope to accomplish today is just this, updating my blog, including the official announcement of our current Fabulous! Featured Designer
Nancy Jones over at that's Nancy with a Jones designed this delish layout featuring her sweet Bella with my Parlor Collection Designer Papers (Webster's Pages)
Nancy, your choice to cut out the flowers and wrap Bella in them is beautiful. Pearls are a favorite accent of mine too (look closely in each flower). Great job Nancy. We are all eager to see more so I can place them in the FABULOUS! Featured Designers' Album. CONGRATULATIONS NANCY! Please visit Nancy's blog and tell her how Fabulous! she is.
Are you Fabulous!? Leave a post with a link to pictures showing your designs with Terri Conrad Designs' Webster's Pages product and you will be considered. The first Friday of each month we will celebrate your creativity and you will be our Fabulous! Featured Designer. Something special will also be mailed to you (Lori Gentile and Becky Heisler your blog candy is on its way - thank you soooo much for being patient - I *heart* you both).

Well all, I'd love to stay and chat, I must, however, challenge myself to stay focused so I end up where I want to be and not someplace else when the day is said and done.
Hmm, the washing machine just completed it's cyle, breakfast dishes remain unwashed, and there's several more loads of laundy waiting, waiting, waiting . . . these items somehow, mysteriously seemed to elude me and did not make it to my list today (and it's officially 10:17 a.m.). Think I need a Starbucks!
Push on we must -
More later in the week...squishy hugs to all.
Terri
