Determination! Does ya Good

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race" Calvin Coolidge

I LOVE determination.  I may be some things, and I may not be other things, but I have always been determined - firmly resolved, and persistent in staying the course until I achieve a desired result.  The result at present was to make visable two password proteced albums on my blog - I did it! I did it! I did it! Through sheer determination I figured out how to make visable both albums.  I am not a technical person by any stretch of the imagination, nor do I have a technical "go to" person, so this is a major accomplishment for me.

While small in the scheme of things with respect to the "big picture" accomplishing this serves as a reminder that we must stay the course, be determined in spite of challenge and adversity, resolve to get through and reach the goal, to accomplish what we set out to do...simply we must

This expression, this committment to self and promise to my children is the foundation of who I am and my work, my art and why I do what I do.

I received a most heartfelt email from "Nancy" this weekend, a woman who was referred to my blog and specifically, "Heroes-in-the-Hood - Sisterhood" by a friend of hers.  Faced with tremendous odds, she must press on in spite of her adversity, to weave a ladder of dreams, have faith, be courageous and aspire to a place beyond her circumstances, both for herself, and her family.

Holidays may come with mixed emotion for some; stress; or challenges we may not at other times in the year face or have to deal with.  No one is exempt.  I hope as you enter this blessed season of celebration that you take a moment to breath deeply, exhale and remember the reason for the season: one night, one star, one child . . .

Choose simplicity; choose to grow through (not just go through) any roadblocks you may face this holiday season; choose to dream BIG; choose faith; choose courage; and choose to aspire to be all you can be.

Do something kind for yourself today, and take a moment, just one moment to reach out to some one, and extend yourself to them - imagine how your gesture may change their day, or even their whole holiday season, simply because you cared.

Blessings to all -

Terri

Webster's Pages, the best thing since the scrapbook

We all need words of encouragement.  We need to be reminded that what we do, be it mom, wife, friend, sister, or creator of inspiration and delight matters, and has some quality impact on another human being.

Occasionally, we need to be reminded to wait in line a bit longer, that our turn will come - that our time, finances, gifts, talents, and effort are each a valued investment.

This morning I received this from Webster's Pages:

What a remarkable compliment Herrschner's has shared about my work!  merci!
